Using swipe controls to switch rails, jump and duck around obstacles, and tilt around overhangs and reaching for the nuggets, Rail Rush follows all the paradigms of the running game genres.
To be honest it never really feels different that it owns the genre. Everything has been seen before in other titles, and nothing feels new. Miniclip have delivered a very polished title, but there's no sense of originality on show here.
Rail Rush is a freemium title, with the gold nuggets you collect in the game tradable for bonuses such as extra lives, stronger mine carts, and buffs to help you survive longer in the game. Unfortunately it looks like that you'll need to grind for a long time to get enough gold for a significant improvement, or pay up with the IAP.
When you can collect 30 or so nuggets in an average game and the lowest IAP of £1.29/99c earns you 15,000 nuggets, you can see the imbalance. This puts Rail Rush into my 'must pay' category. And I'm not particularly drawn to games in that pile.
Rail Rush is part of the Nokia Collection, and is available to download via the AAWP Directory.
