Phriz.be focusses on location to share your pictures

Published by at

The interestingly titled Phriz.be, announced last week, is a 'social sharing application' that has a focus on location. Allowing you to share images from a location, and to see what other media users have shared in the local area, Phriz.be adds the idea of 'location' sharing, much like a communal (but digital) notice board anyone can leave content on.

Media shared locally will only be picked up by Phriz.be users searching within a certain radius of the location where you shared the media. The app lets you toggle this from 50 feet all the way out to 2624 feet (just short of half a mile). I could see this being very useful at a conference or meeting to get a 'right here right now' overview.

When you share content you can share it either at a location, to be found by others, or you can share content with one or more people in your contact list. If they are part of Phriz.be, then they'll be able to receive the content via the app (which is also on iOS, Android, and Windows 8). And for people who are not part of the Phriz.be network, the app will switch over to an email based system, as Phriz.be explains in their FAQ:

If you want to share anything with someone that doesn’t already have the app, all you need is their email address and you’re good to go. Our integrated email client will send your files to anyone in your contacts list that has a valid email address assigned to that contact. They will get your file, as well as a link to the website to download the app.

Available as a free download, you can find Phriz.be in our app directory.
