Gameloft's 'Kingdoms & Lords' resets the clock on Xbox Live releases, giving us another entry into the beleaguered brand on Windows Phone. It's a mix of world-building SIM and combat strategy in this freemium title. Can you build up your empire and equip your armies so some can go questing, while others defend the towns that are earning your income?

Gameloft have already releases a title in the world-building vein with the movie tie-in Ice Age Village. Thankfully the shallow story and structure in that title have been jettisoned. Kingdoms and Lords brings in far more options in a world that has a comfortable feel for the role playing gamer.

As well as the world building, defending, and attacking, working through the quests as part of the in game story arc, you can also launch attacks against your friends through your Xbox Live friends list.

While there's nothing new on offer here, there are times when you want the typical game in a genre, and that describes Kingdoms & Lords.
