2flicka updated with dark theme and auto-uploads

Published by at

Continuing an impressive run of updates to add in features and catch the bugs, the developers behind 2flicka, a third-party Flicker client for Windows Phone, have updated the app to version 1.2. Additions to the app in this version include an automatic upload option, and the ability to toggle between the grid and stream views. But perhaps most importantly, there is a dark coloured dark theme, which will come as a relief to those looking to husband their battery life.

While Yahoo revitalised Flicker last year with a new client for iPhone, support for one of the first social photography sites has always been a bit hit and miss, at least officially. I still think this is a missed opportunity for Yahoo to step up and own a significant part of the Windows Phone mind-share with photographers. SkyDrive is a nice catchall to save photos, but Flickr helps present them to the world.

So clients like 2flicka can really make a difference, and constant iteration will be able to help create an active community around an app. Three releases in a little over a month is not excessive in my opinion, it shows an improving app, gives user confidence that they are using something that is loved, and it helps catch as many bugs and quirks as possible.
