To be fair to Gameloft, this is a huge game (a shade under 1 GB, so the regular rule of thumb is that you'll need 3 GB of free space on your internal drive to install it), and you are getting a lot of value here. Of course without a huge playing session you don't know exactly how much the title will actually cost you. I'm sure Gameloft will have tested this and be confident there is a path through that can lead to victory with no extra payments made, but can the average gamer find it (or resist temptation?).
Dungeon Hunter 4 looks the part, and I can forgive the slightly clichéd and unimaginative dungeons, creatures, and quests, because they all work really well together. I'd rather have solid code with basic ideas than flashy ideas on top of dodgy programming!
But at the same time I like my freemium games to play fair. Once you pick up some of the IAP weapons and armour, the game becomes far easier to play. And that just leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
