Calculate blood alcohol level with Alcometer

Published by at

Alcometer is a simple app that helps you work out your likely blood alcohol level by entering a few simple pieces of data. The app will also give you an estimate of when you are likely to be sober again, potentially allowing you to make smarter decisions about post drinking transport options. The app works by calculating alcohol absorption and breakdown rates using the Widmark formula (taking into account food levels, gender, weight, and drinking habits).

Alcometer aims to keep things as simple as possible. In most case you should be able to enter the necessary data (i.e. what you've drunk) in just a few seconds. This ease of use is partly down to goo user interface design, but what really helps is the comprehensive built-in drink database (i.e. specifying alcohol content for various beverages).

The most recent update to Alcometer saw improvements in localisation (language and international units), which should allow the app to build on thesucess in enjoyed in its home market after its initial release (275+ reviews, with overall rating of 4.5 stars).

It's worth noting that the app comes with a disclaimer that notes all calculation are estimates and should not be be relied on to be 100% accurate. Even so, Alcometer, is still likely to make a better guess that you yourself can... making it a useful addition to your drinking toolkit.

Windows Phone Store description:

Alcometer lets you determine your blood alcohol level easily! The alcohol content, the glass size and the time of the taking of all drinks are completely customizable. With the LiveTile you can always keep an eye on your blood alcohol maximum.

All figures without guarantee! You may not use this app to determine your driving ability! The BAC level is determined by a modified Widmark formula and thus provides only a rough estimate.

Alcometer is a free download from the Windows Phone Store. The developer does suggest that you buy him a beer if you like the app.
