Square Enix's Final Fantasy series has been a staple of role playing games since the first title was launched in 1987. Now it's time for another entry in the Light Warriors journal as a reworked Final Fantasy 3 arrives on Windows Phone 8 via Xbox Live.

Final Fantasy 3 for Windows Phone

Originally released in 1990, the developers released a 3D remake for the Nintendo in 2006. That variant went on to be reworked over various portable and mobile platforms, including iOS in March 2011 and Android in June 2012. And now it has arrived on Windows Phone.

When you have a game this old, yet still successful, you know that it has the game play to back it up. Final Fantasy 3 is well balanced between combat, adventure, grinding, and difficulty.

From the directory listing:

First released in 1990, Final Fantasy III was the first title in the Final Fantasy series to become a million-seller, establishing once and for all that Square Enix's classic RPG saga was here to stay... Final Fantasy III was a hallmark of innovation for the entire series, from the job system that lets characters change classes at any time to the ability to summon powerful creatures such as Shiva and Bahamut.

When darkness falls and the land is robbed of light, four youths are chosen by the crystals to set forth on a journey to save the world.

It's a pricey download at $15.99/£11.99, so I don't think it will attract anyone new to the series, but fans of Final Fantasy will know what they are getting into. Pick it up via the AAWP App Directory.
