LG G Flex vs Nokia Lumia 1520

Published by at

The Lumia 1520 is unashamedly referred to by most people now as a 'phablet', but at least it's in good company. In the video embedded below, John V from PhoneArena puts the 1520 up against the brand new LG G Flex, from the Android world, in a very interesting and fast paced head to head. Summary? The 1520 pulls off the win overall, with an extra recommendation because of its relatively reasonable price (the G Flex is very expensive at the moment).

From the video description:

On one side of the ring, we have the LG G Flex, a marvel of a device that showcases some new and innovative design qualities we haven't seen commercialized on a large scale. Meanwhile there's the Nokia Lumia 1520, the biggest and most high spec'd Windows Phone to come to market -- made more profound with its hard-to-beat on-contract price from the onset. Several valid reasons exist right now as to why consumers should pick either of them up, but there can only be one that can give us the practical and meaningful answers.

Great video and I wasn't surprised by most of the discoveries in the testing. The 1520 deservedly wins in terms of the modernity of the interface, for its high quality display and for its camera, though John didn't make proper use of the 'reframing' facility, which would have revealed even more dramatic detail in his test subject.

The 1520's video capture wasn't felt to be as punchy as the G Flex's, plus the notifications system in Windows Phone received criticism - as usual, even if arguably undeserved.

We'll have our own head to head in the next few months, when the G Flex arrives for review with one of our writers.
