Channel 9 offers the best of Microsoft development and behind-the-scenes

Published by at

Channel 9 is (Microsoft's) MSDN's showcase of the best video, developer and event coverage - and this new application is probably the best way to view its content. You don't have to be a programmer (though that will help), there's plenty of generic geek content (e.g. 3D Printing, shown below) that's most definitely of interest, going beyond what you normally see on TV or YouTube.

From the Store description:

Windows Phone 8 application for the Channel 9 web site provides a way to browse, rate and view videos on a variety of developer and consumer topics.

Being a bit geeky myself, I took the Channel 9 application for a spin:

The home page suggests recent video content; (right) tapping through gives video details and links...

Tiles present different views of content, though some (right) don't seem to be working right just yet!

There's plenty here of interest, even if you're not a die-hard Microsoft programmer - here a video on 3D printing caught my eye...

Rotating your phone to landscape during playback brings the Channel 9 videos up full-screen, of course, in high quality...

The 'fresh' playlist is probably the one to start with; (right) note the events pane too - possibly more of a 'must' if you're a developer and planning on attending or keeping an eye on?

Very slick. You can download Channel 9 here for free here in the Store.
