Official Microsoft Video app gets new Camera roll pane, bug fixes

Published by at

Fresh from a recent update which added nudge buttons to playback, and much more, we have yet another Video update, this time breaking out personally-shot videos from the main video list to their own pane. It's a little thing, but if you have dozens of sideloaded videos plus dozens more self-shot videos on your phone then these are now neatly kept separate, rather than being jumbled in together.

Screenshot proof time:

On the left, from my 1020, side-loaded videos (yes, ignore the one starting 'WP_', that was sideloaded from another phone!), on the right, videos shot in the 1020 camera...

So 'personal videos' has now been split into 'my videos' and 'camera reel'. The other tabs are 'films' and 'tv', as before.

This update also fixes an issue that caused the multi-select button to disappear when offline, apparently. You can update Video in the Store application on your phone, of course, or find the right link/code through the Windows Phone Store here.

Video, like Music, as a Silverlight application, has been fighting something of an uphill battle since it was broken out of the main Windows Phone OS (and native implementation), but it's arguably now 'there', aside from performance tweaks. Comments welcome if you'd like to see more...
