Split second finger-tapping needed, obstacles to avoid, a cycle of life-death-try again that lasts only seconds.... sound familiar? Thief Runner takes quite a few of the principles of Flappy Bird and applies it to 20 or so levels, each split into three stages, so 60 sections to clear in all. It's free, too, apart from a few small ads here and there. Keep it installed for a thrash on the tube or a bash on the bus - but don't be surprised if the movement of the vehicle causes you to mis-tap and die horribly (again)!

Here's Thief Runner in action:
It's not clear what the exact back story is or why there's an alarm clock, but it's clear that you have to run and jump and run and jump....
Obstacles fill your path, some irregular and some animated - and only the most exact tap-to-jump will clear them. ANY contact with any on-screen matter and you die. OK, you're immediately resurrected, Flappy Bird-style, from the start of the current coloured section, but it still hurts....
The level design gets trickier and trickier, to the point where the required timing is so exact that you'll hand the game over to your eight year old nephew to complete for you. Oops. Maybe that's just me?!
Only 65 deaths in clearing the first ten levels/30 sections? Not too shabby - anyone else want to post their stats below?
Thief Runner is nicely done, if a little on the hard side - still, that's where the addiction lies, I suspect! You can download the game for free here.
