The 'hero' Yezz Billy 5S goes large, has 720P display and LTE

And just like that, we now have a 5"-screen 720p display and LTE (4G) in a 'budget' Windows Phone, thanks to the new Yezz Billy 5S, announced at CES. Described by Yezz itself as its 'hero' device for the platform, details are still sketchy on pricing and availability, so it's probably best not to celebrate just yet - this thing could end up being a mid-ranger...

Yezz Billy 5S

Details are on the Yezz site here, but in summary:

  • 5" IPS 720p display
  • 1.2 GHz Snapdragon 410 with Adreno 306 GPU and 1GB RAM
  • Dual-SIM and LTE support
  • 13MP rear camera, 5MP front-facing
  • 8GB internal memory, expandable with micro SD
  • Bluetooth 4.0
  • Virtual Windows Phone controls
  • Launches with Windows Phone Update 1 (at least - note Cortana in the graphic)

Good to see a new and decent competitor to Microsoft/Nokia Lumias though. I do worry about build quality and also about the sheer size of the device. Remember that the screen is 5" and then look again at the bezels in the image above.

Yezz have promised us various review devices and we'll be featuring them through 2015 here on AAWP.
