Office Lens can now save to full, searchable PDF

Office Lens is one of the stars of the Windows Phone platform and Microsoft just added a new function to its portfolio. Not only can you 'scan' charts and documents to Office files, but you can also now scan to full blown Acrobat (PDF) files, not just as images but with full selectable text. It was the next logical step, of course, but Office Lens just became even more of a must-download application.

New for this version 1.4.3727.0 is:

Now you can convert your pictures to PDF files with selectable text, in addition to Word and PowerPoint files, and save them to OneDrive.

I gave this new feature a quick whirl:

An intro splash screen shows the main new feature; 'scanning' a page from an old manual as a test....

Setting up the save to OneDrive and in the formats I want...; (right) the processing and upload in progress.... For my page, it took about ten seconds.

Opening the PDF file in OneDrive, it still looks like a photo, BUT the text is now fully searchable - and, on the right platform, selectable and copy-able too.

Very cool. You can download Office Lens in the Store here, for free.
