Mini-review: GlanceData

Published by at

Guest writer Ow Kah Leong: After my previous mini review on Daily Data Sense and Mobile Data Notifier, I received an email from LSDigital to take a look at their app GlanceData. There are free and paid versions of the app, with the latter giving you access to a few more options – like displaying two pieces of info on the Lockscreen and control of cellular data %.

The essential function of GlanceData is to display information on the Glance Screen and Lockscreen on the phone. I have chosen the app to display free disk space % and you can see from the screenshot below that I have 12% left.

On starting the app, you are presented with the Shortcuts screen to set up the information what you want to display.

You can choose from a plethora of choices such as normal ones like Disk Space and Battery to the more unusual ones like 'Days left to full moon'. The information is as follows (from the Store description):

  • The % disk space

  • The % battery remaining charge (the charging / discharging rate in %/hour)

  • Personalised number from 1 to 99

  • The day of the month

  • The month of the year

  • Days left to full moon

  • Days left to a defined date

  • % cellular data left

Within some of the Shortcuts, you can further set up how you want the information to be displayed. You can take a look at some of the Shortcuts below:

You would have noticed that the screenshot on the extreme left shows an option for RSS, which can be unlocked for a small fee. There is a quite an attractive Dashboard as well:

I would also like to have the option for the Dashboard to show on starting the app. Currently the app uses the same icon regardless of the information I choose to display. I would prefer it to use for example, a battery icon if I choose the Battery option.

If you currently do not have any app to display information on the Glance Screen and Lockscreen, then GlanceData is worth taking a quick look.
