The Alacatel Idol 4 Pro finally appears - for a price!

Published by at

It's not exactly a formal announcement of availability, but the expected release of the Windows 10 Mobile-running Alcatel Idol 4 Pro in Europe seems at least to be real, thanks to a believeable listing over at Cyberport, though the price is outrageous. Instead of 607 Euros (£533), the hardware spec should come in around 60% the current price... at most. So - tempting though it is to hand over my credit card to take one for the AAWP team, I'm.... not going to. If this is the start of genuine availability of this dual-speakered flagship on Windows 10 Mobile then no doubt other retailers will acquire it too, and the prices can tumble down.

Interestingly, the word 'novelty' appears in the Google-translated screenshot - though this might also refer to 'ultra-new'. The original word was 'Neuheit'...

From the Cyberport listing for the 'Alcatel Idol 4 Pro with Windows 10 Mobile':

  • Display: 5.5-inch 1080p AMOLED, Dragontrail glass
  • Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 820, 2.15 GHz
  • Memory: 4GB RAM
  • Memory: 64GB, expandable via MicroSD
  • Camera: 21 Megapixel Sony IMX230
  • Front camera: 8 megapixels
  • Audio: Dual JBL-branded speakers
  • Battery: 3000 mAh, QuickCharge 2.0
  • Miscellaneous: Continuum, VR, Windows Hello with fingerprint scanner

There's not even the VR visor that shipped with the Idol 4S with Windows 10 that shipped late last year in the USA and which we reviewed here.

So - good to see this appear at long, long last. Now knock 200 Euros off the price and then we're in business, methinks.
