Free Chat Stories UWP is a nice idea, but...

I wasn't sure whether to class this as a game or an application, so I tagged it as both. The idea here is to 'live' a horror story one text at a time - each tap is another text from one of several characters. In theory, the tension builds as you work your way through the conversations. A nice idea - does it work? Yes, on the whole, though the number of stories is quite limited (I'm sure more will come) and there's an annoying ad break every so often - which you can't currently get rid of with an in-app-purchase. Argh.

From the Store description:

This app lets you read amazing scared chat stories FREE without pauses. These are scary, engrossing nail-biting horrors that will keep you reading through the day. Read a lot of spooked chat stories and text fictions with your friends.

Every story is told as a bite-sized text message conversation, as if you were reading someone else's chat history.

We love reading, just like you, but we know it can get BORING when stories are too long. So we created this app to make reading snappy, spooky and fun.

All very interesting. No conventional narrative, no exposition, no pictures. Just 'as is' messaging to tell each story:

The 'next' control at the bottom is right next to the ad panel, ensuring that you'll hit this sometimes and generate money for the developer, plus you get ad pop-ups every so often anyway - and there's no way to pay directly to get rid of these, which is a crying shame.

You can grab this in the Store here. Comments on the novel (geddit?) approach?
