T-Mobile and Nokia talk about the Lumia 710

Following on from this week's launch, Andrew Sherrard (T-Mobile) and Chris Weber (Nokia) talk about their plans in a printed Q and A style interview on the New York Times' Bits column. They address marketing strategies, attracting developers, the challenge of competing with iOS and Android, and a number of other issues. There's nothing here that keen watchers will not be aware of, but it's always nice to see everything re-iterated.

As always, the key for me is the message going out to develoeprs. Chris Weber:

We’re working in conjunction with Microsoft to make sure the application marketplace for Windows Phone grows. You can look at the trajectory since Feb. 11 when we announced the partnership with Microsoft. It’s a nice hockey stick in terms of the number of apps — they just surpassed 40,000 apps, so we’re making very good progress there.

Of course the Windows Marketplace is now past 45,000 apps and should be breaking the psychological 50,000 barrier at the very start of 2012, so that's a bit more evidence of the hockey sticking, but we'll let Weber away with that one!
