Tencent's QQ Games Hall app exclusive to Nokia

The QQ Games Hall app, which received a brief mention at today's announcement on the Nokia Lumia 800C, is a good example of Nokia's intention to provide locally relevant content and services for each Windows Phone market. The app provides easy mobile access to QQ Games service, a well known social gaming portal, where the focus is on multiplayer online games.

Windows Phone devices in China (or at least those tied to Chinese Live IDs) do not have access to the Xbox Live service / hub. Some of the Xbox titles are available, but their Xbox live related content (achievements etc.) has been removed. QQ Game Hall, which is likely to pre-loaded on Nokia Lumia devices in China, provides an alternative social gaming service. The QQ Games service is available through the web and a variety of mobile platforms and has more than 200 million users. QQ Games is one of the products of Tencent, which is best known for its QQ Instant Messaging service.

The focus in QQ Games Hall is on online multiplayer games, with other players found through the QQ ID system (linked to the QQ IM service). The app has a "platform feature" that "shows all the games" and in the first version the "Landlords ace game is integrated". Other functionality includes a smart upgrade system that will push new features and games to end users and a section for news about the latest gaming headlines and content.

QQ 游戏大厅 (Game Hall) can be downloaded from the Windows Phone Marketplace, it is only available in China and is available via the Nokia collection portion of the Marketplace, indicating that it is currently exclusive to Nokia Lumia devices.
