Proximity to cameras is shown via a progress bar positioned along the top of the screen. Your current speed is displayed in the middle of the screen (effectively a fancy looking speedo) and the details (type and speed) of the upcoming camera are displayed at the bottom of the screen.
The intention is that the RoadPilot app should be used as a co-pilot whenever you are driving. As the developers themselves notes continuous use of the GPS while driving will drain the battery more quickly than usual. So if you're a regular user of RoadPilot it will make sense to invest in a car charger and cradle.
