Nokia helps bring new apps and updates to Windows Phone

Alongside the Windows Phone powered Nokia Lumia 820 and 920 smartphones, Nokia have announced a number of exclusive, updated and new, applications for all their Windows Phone devices.

The popular lifestyle brand (and well known energy drink) Red Bull have a huge number of events every year, and The World of Red Bull will keep you up to date with all these activities. It will be exclusive to Nokia for 9 months.

An improved Vimeo app is coming to Nokia Windows Phones with HD support, and hopefully the new developer environment in Windows Phone 8 will allow this version to overcome some of the flaws we found when it was released earlier in the year. This version also appears to have a greater focus on the creation of video, as opposed to consumption. Nokia handset owners will also get a three month trial of Vimeo Plus.

While it is not another Angry Birds game, Angry Birds Roost is going to be essential for fans of the annoyed avians. It's going to give users access to walk through videos, news, ringtones, and more though the hub app and various live tiles. It will be exclusive to Nokia for three months.

Also exclusive for three months is the Bloomberg Hub. It should be available within the week, and as well as the business and finance news, it will also provide access to Bloomberg TV and Bloomberg Radio. Windows Phone 8 devices will pick up a number of added features to make best use of the new Live Tile system.

Style Saint is a new 'app experience' that is exclusive to Nokia until the end of year. We'll be taking a closer look at this in the near future, as details are sketchy (the main site is still in beta). It looks to be a social network based around fashion and design, driven by uploaded imagery in the style of Pinterest.

Groupon is already a well established name in windows Phone (we reviewed it at the end of last year) and while it continues to be available to all, an improved version which will include augmented reality features will be exclusive to Nokia for six months.

Bringing more cloud storage options to Windows Phone alongside Microsoft's SkyDrive, YouSendIt focuses on file sharing and content in the cloud. It also takes advantage of the NFC capabilities of the Lumia 820 and Lumia 920 with a 'tap to share' function.

Michelin is staying exclusive just that bit longer, six months, with their NFC and location-aware application. From finding a restaurant in the famous Michelin guide, to getting information about the restaurant with an NFC tap, this brings the guide book to the fingertips of Windows Phone users.

Finally, the popular WhatsApp messaging app is getting some support from Nokia. The app isn't going away, but co-founder Brian Action said that the partnership will allow for a "differentiated user experience tailored for the Nokia Lumia 920 and Nokia Lumia 820."
