Another Huawei Windows Phone 8 device?

Chinese language site, PC Online, following on from earlier leaks of the Huawei Ascend W1, has posted several pictures of what it describes as a "another suspected Huawei Windows Phone 8 device". The pictures show a device with a white polycarbonate shell, the standard ports and buttons and Windows Phone 8 branding.

Huawei is one of the hardware launch partners for Windows Phone 8, and some rumours have indicated that Huawei is planning to launch two Windows Phone 8 devices, but it is best to maintain a degree of caution until an official announcement has been made.

The device in the pictures is clearly different to the purported Ascend W1, with more angular lines, an off set camera, and smaller bezel. However, it is also possible that it is a design variant, or pre-production sample. It does have a passing resemblance to a number of other Huawei handsets (e.g. Ascend P1, M886).

Huawei is well known for its competitively price Android smartphone devices, and it is expected to follow a similar strategy for its Windows Phone devices. How much its presence will be felt will largely be dictated by the number and quality of device models in its Windows Phone portfolio. The picture should become clearer shortly, as Huawei is expected to officially announce its Windows Phone 8 line up at, or soon after, the official launch of the platform, which takes place on October 29th.
