Lumia photography tips from Rankin Film Productions

Published by at

As part of the promotional campaign for the Collabor8te project Nokia UK is publishing a number of videos to YouTube offering photography tips for Lumia smartphones. The videos talk through the basics of some of the manual settings in the Windows Phone Camera app and offers examples of the different results that can be produced.

Collabor8te, which is now in its second year, is a joint initiative between Rankin Film Productions and Nokia that aims to support the "next generation of image-makers" by partnering young talent with more experienced professionals.

The videos, which we have embedded below, are narrated by Alex Simpson, director and editor at Rankin Photography. Although the videos are branded Lumia the general advice applies to any smartphone camera. Most leading smartphones now offer manual control over common camera settings (e.g. ISO, Exposure) and taking advantage of them can offer significant improvements (and/or creative results) over fully automatic modes.
