Nokia updates #2InstaWithLove with new filter

Looking to keep maintain the campaign to get Instagram onto Windows Phone Nokia has updated its #2InstaWithLove app with a new filter. Previsouly all photos had the "Polaroid" filter applied, but now a second filter, "HandCam" has been unlocked. "HandCam" leaches blue colours and ups the contrast, aping the look of handheld camera from the 1980's.

As we noted when the first app was released Instagram continue to provide plenty of conversation for Windows Phone users. #2InstaWithLove is part of that, regardless of whether you see it as a clever idea, or emblematic of Windows Phone's platform runt status:

As we noted yesterday there's plenty of discussion around the idea of Instagram on Windows Phone and it is fair to say its the app that comes up most frequently when talking about which apps are missing from the platform.

Quite how you regard Nokia's Instagram-baiting campaign will depends on your perspective. We can't quite make up our minds whether it looks a bit desperate, or is a genius marketing move... and, of course, those of a more cynical bent might be thinking it's all part of a viral marketing campaign leading up to the announcement on an Instragram Windows Phone client.

In any case, it is certainly one of the most unique pieces of developer engagement that we've seen recently. Compared to the Nokia of just a few years ago, it's also a good example of just how far the company is willing to go to get certain apps on to its devices. It reinforces a theme that we've heard about from a number of developers and brands who are being engaged by Nokia to get their services and apps on to Windows Phone. As one commented to us when explaining why they were porting to Windows Phone, "Nokia is just so much hungrier than before... that's what made the difference for us".
