Amazing Weather HD, one of the more popular weather apps for Windows Phone, has been updated to version 4.2. The new version further refines the already excellent Live Tile support, with an option to disable back tile (i.e. no flipping) and a new forecast option as one of the Live Tile choices. In addition the app will now localise place names (where possible) and show the time in each city's time zone.

Amazing Weather deservedly receives many positive reviews for combing an attractive design with clear information display, both within the app, and across the associated Live Tiles and lockscreen integration. The app has a strong feature set (current conditions, forecasts, weather alerts, weather maps, and ability to view nearby weather stations), but it's the high resolution graphics and animations that give the app its name that really stand out.

One factor that may be an issue for some users is that Amazing Weather HD's weather data is supplied by Weather Underground, which has something of a mixed reputation. In some some locations it provides accurate current data and decent forecasts, but in other locations forecasts can be less reliable (current data is usually less of an issue). In general, for at-a-glance weather forecast usage, we would not expect most users to have an issue, but it's worth considering that the weather data enabling this app may not be of the same quality as other paid apps.
