OneShot update adds aspect ratio control and new filters

Published by at

OneShot, one of the first apps alternative camera apps to be built on top of the Nokia Imaging SDK, has been updated to version 1.5. The new release, arriving just over a week after the apps debut, adds the ability to change the capture aspect ratio between 16:9 and 4:3 (where supported by the device), adds a reset settings button (making it easier to go back to the default settings), and add three new filters to the app (Valencia, Amaro, and Hudon).

In addition there are a number of bug fixes related to HTC devices, scrolling through images, and and an issue that could cause the screen to freeze after focusing. The performance of the viewfinder (frame rate) has also been improved by 30%.

As we previously noted OneShot is a polished app that should appeal to those looking for finer control over photo capture:

There are already a number of excellent alternative camera apps available for Windows Phone (e.g. Pro Shot). OneShot joins this competitive space, but it's worth a look for its live-view filters and well thought-out user interface. As the developer says in their blog:

OneShot's approach is not going to be to everyone's taste, but those looking for easier access to the key camera controls should welcome OneShot's powerful but relatively minimalist approach.

Windows Phone Store description:

OneShot is a professional mobile camera app with high quality filter effects that can be seen in real-time when taking a photo. The app contains a lot of easy-to-use features that help you to get the most out of your camera.

What's new in version 1.5:

  • 3 new filters are available: Valencia, Amaro, Hudson
  • Aspect ratio can be changed between 16:9 and 4:3 if both are supported by the device
  • A ‘Reset settings’ button has been added to the sidebar that makes it easy to reset the current settings. This feature brings also a new ‘Reset settings’ favorite button to the app bar.

OneShot can be downloaded from the Windows Phone Store. A free trial is available with the full app costing £1.49 / $1.99 / €1.99. In the trial version you are able to try out every feature, but you can not save captured photos to your library. OneShot is only available for Windows Phone 8.
