Nokia Lumia 1020 starts to go on sale outside the US

The Nokia Lumia 1020, has been available through US operator AT&T since 26th July. The handset has been and remains exclusive to AT&T in the US, but somewhat unusually AT&T has also had global exclusive on the product. The country exclusivity remains in place, but the global exclusivity period is now over, with the Nokia Lumia 1020 starting to go on sale outside the US.

For example, the Lumia 1020 is now available to buy SIM-free through Amazon Germany for €697 (£590) and notebooksbilliger.de for €689, it will also go on sale in Italy on September 10th, with pre-orders currently being accepted through NStore.it for €699. The imaging flagship is also expected to go on sale in China in the next few days on China Unicom at a price of ¥5999 SIM-free (or ¥999 on a three year contract).

Other countries should also be getting the Lumia 1020 shortly, as with other Lumia launches it will be Nokia's "key" markets (i.e. the larger ones) that will be first in line. For example, WP7forum.ru reports that it will arrive in Russia on October 11th, while smartphonefrance.info reports it will arrive in France on October 2nd, and our own sources indicate that the Lumia 1020 will arrive in the UK in the second half of September.

Nokia is also starting to move its marketing campaigns for the Lumia 1020 into high gear in a number of countries. For example, the posters shown below are being displayed in one of the Subway Line 2 stations in Beijing.

Another example of Nokia Lumia 1020 promotion, this time in the UK, is the guerilla advertising, spotted by website UK Mobile Review, in which a portable advertising hoarding was parked-up alongside an advert for the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom.
