Way back at the end of October, I posted about the beta of 1Shot, a unique camera application for the Lumia 1020 (and other devices, but the 1020 reaps most benefit, by far) that grabs high resolution images by default and allows very flexible 'zooming'/cropping - two and a half months (and a dozen betas) later, 1Shot is now at v1.0 and is officially out of beta.

One thing that Nokia wanted to hide from casual users in the Lumia 1020 was the full resolution 34/38MP JPGs that are used for the 'reframing' and 'zooming later'. For most people, this is fine, but shutterbugs have been asking about the full resolution shots and previously the only way to access these was by plugging the phone into a compatible desktop computer and application. 1Shot, a new camera application currently in beta, is unashamedly centred on capturing and saving just the full resolution photo - and with only the one JPG available this is also the one that gets uploaded to SkyDrive by the Windows Phone OS. If the lack of access to the full sensor resolution is an issue for you on the Lumia 1020 then 1Shot is definitely worth a look, featuring:

• default 33.6MP capture (7712 x 4352) using tap to focus and capture or the phone's shutter button
• images are saved to Camera Roll and backed up by your auto-upload in Windows Phone, to SkyDrive, make sure you have ticked 'Best quality' in settings/applications/photos+camera/Auto-upload
• multiple (default 5 shots)  and bracketed shooting (default 3 shots at +/0 0.5EV) modes 
• six extra 'scene modes' (combinations of settings): 'macro', 'sports', 'night', 'landscape', 'nightportrait', 'backlit'
• zooming using multi-touch pinch and splay, or via a swipe up the screen, Nokia-style
• zooming goes further than the standard Nokia camera applications, cropping down on the sensor to (1885 x 1064), i.e. 2mp, representing a visual lossless zoom factor of 4x

Since that beta, there has been a lot added in terms of stability, functionality and interface. Here are some screens of the current version:

The crucial part of 1Shot's UI is the readout of megapixels - as you zoom in (up to 4x lossless), the number reduces to always show you what you're working with....; (right) a built-in viewer for the super-high-res images is included.

Once taken, there are a barrage of 'preview' effects to be applied, all very impressive.

No 'red eye', but everything else you might ever expect from on-device image processing is here...

...including the new auto-color-pop system (some configuration for this would be nice, mind you....)

Highly recommended if you want to capture (and play with) the full resolution images from the Lumia 1020's sensor on the phone without messing around on a desktop computer. 1Shot is free, too, in the Windows Phone Store here.
