Windows Phone Mac sync client adds support for Windows Phone 8.1

Microsoft has updated the Mac OS X version of its Windows Phone client sync software to version 3.1. The new version adds support for Windows Phone 8.1 devices, allows for drag and droop support for .DNG (RAW) photo file to Browse Device UI, and also includes "various UI improvements". The software is an essential download for anyone looking to sync music, movies and podcast from iTunes, or photos and videos from iPhoto, to and from their Windows Phone device.

The updated Mac client follow in the footsteps of the Windows 8 app, which was updated last week. Both updates get the respective PC based sync solution ready for the arrival of Windows Phone 8.1. While the first new devices running Windows Phone 8.1 are not expected to arrive until early next month, the Developer Preview Program for Windows Phone 8.1 is expected to go live early next week, which means there will be many thousands of devices running Windows Phone 8.1 in the wild.
