The best gets better? Tweetium (Beta) gets big bug-fix update

Published by at

You'll have remembered that Tweetium, even though it's still in beta, just edged my round-up of Windows Phone Twitter clients? Well, it just got better - ignore the continuing 'beta' tag, as it's fast and stable. Of course, contact the developers if you do notice anything awry, but in the meantime, the new build adds higher resolution user thumbnails and fixes over a dozen known bugs.

Here's what's new in build 282:

  • Scroll position should now be restored when swiping between views.
  • Improved position restoration when resuming
  • Added an option to always restore last position / view state when switching views (i.e. with the navbar)
  • Really fixed the problem with stale user images appearing on slow connections
  • On high DPI devices, now load higher resolution (but still quite small) user thumbnails
  • Fixed pasting of links copied via Copy Shortcut in IE
  • First attempt at working around store IAP issues affecting Pro subscriptions
  • Fixed cases where RTs and Connect+ notifications would not refresh until the app was restarted
  • Improved detection of stalled stream connections
  • Phone - Ensure the bottom of the view can be scrolled above the app bar
  • Phone - Esnure tweet details/controls are above the app bar on thread expand
  • Phone - Fix caret position when using Quote Tweet (should be at start, not end)
  • Fixed some rare crashes reported via WER
  • Additional logging and error handling improvements

Of course, not much of this bug-fixing changelog can be depicted  in screenshots, not least because I haven't hit any of these bugs. So here's a simple look at the UI again, here modelled on my Lumia 830:

The main UI with 'normal' font. See the main feature for all its pros and cons; (right) note that, among other advanced settings, there's even breakdown over the RAM being used. Geeky, I know, but I wish more applications would break out stats like this that can be used when troubleshooting...

You can take part in the beta simply by buying and installing Tweetium from the Store here. Yes, it's commercial software, but I promise that you'll be happy - it's certainly the slickest I've seen for Twitter on Windows Phone. All for the price of a half pint of beer.
