Another viewpoint on the HTC 8S from Amandah Wood

At the end of our review of the HTC 8S smartphone, I noted that it might be suited to someone not looking for an 'app' phone but a phone with a solid range of built in applications that allow you to work online and get stuff done. That's exactly what Amandah Wood has found with her 8S.

If you know me you know my phone is my central hub, it is my go to for everything, communication, storage, note-taking, reading, sharing etc. I do a lot on my phone and what I really wanted to see is if the HTC 8S could fit my most basic smartphone needs. I wasn’t about to compare it to my iPhone 5 because it just wouldn’t be fair seeing as the HTC 8S falls into a totally different price range and target market. However, I know the apps available for Windows 8 have been growing and so my goal was to achieve a similar amount of functionality.

What I find interesting is that almost every function that Wood enjoys comes from Windows Phone OS, rather than any third party applications, although she flags up Rowi as being far more useful than the official Twitter app!

I'm still a touch concerned that as time goes on and Wood downloads a few more apps, the available 1.1 GB of storage out of the box will be filled up and she'll be left with some hard decisions to make on storage and applications (The HTC 8S may have 4 GB on the circuit board, but the OS uses almost three quarters of that to run).

For now though, it's another satisfied Windows Phone 8 user!
