The BBC take a look at the current state of play of LTE in the UK networks, along with a touch of history on data over the air and how it was brought to the market. Interesting stuff, although it makes me wonder if LTE in the UK is ever going to happen, or if we end up with a mess of a compromise.
This means we should be able to get more out of our smartphones, tablets and e-readers as broadband speeds will be generally faster. But for all its advances, LTE does have a downside in that it makes very heavy use of the spectrum allocated to it. And some feel that LTE and its successor technologies stick too closely to what has come before.
