Fly Delta apps adds baggage tracking

Published by at

Fly Delta, the application provided by the US airline Delta has been updated to version 1.70. New in this version is support for the tracking of baggage, the ability to pay bag fees from within the app, aircraft details for Delta's fleet and expanded airport information. The application already allows you to check-in for domestic flights and includes the ability to pin a boarding pass to the start screen of the phone.

Other app features the ability to rebook canceled or missed connected flights, view a seat map and select or change your seat, check your status on the upgrade or standby list, check the latest flight status and get terminal and gate info, map flights en route with an interactive flight tracker, see your SkyMiles balance and current Medallion status and save a photo and make note of your parking spot.

Baggage tracking is an interesting addition to the application. While it's not going to ease the pain of a lost bag, it does provide quick and easy access to information when something goes wrong. Half the frustration of a lost bag is the lack of information about where it has gone and when you are likely to get it back. It should also provide peace of mind to those who want to track their bag along every step of the journey.

The addition of baggage tracking to the mobile check-in functionality, mobile boarding pass support, and comprehensive airport and flight information means the Fly Delta applications is one of the most comprehensive mobile airline applications we've come across.

Delta are promising further app updates in the future, with the ability to check in to international flights promised for the next release.

Fly Delta can be downloaded from the Windows Phone Marketplace for free.
