Clocks are beautiful with MetroTime

Published by at

MetroTime is a simple app that displays beautiful clocks on your phone's screen. You can choose from seven different styles - binary, classic, digital, hexadecimal colour, neue analog, orbits and typographic - each of which can be displayed in portrait of landscape orientation.

The beauty of MetroTime's clocks is enough reason to download the app for a quick look, but does it have any practical use? Because of the limitations of Windows Phone API's it can't be used as a replacement lock screen or automatically activated as a screensaver, which is a real shame.

But there's nothing stopping you using it as a manual desktop clock. To help with this the app includes a setting to disable the lock screen, which means the app will remain in the foreground and the screen will be left on. However, this will drain your phone's battery quickly, so it's probably only a good idea to do this when charging your phone (e.g. sitting in a desktop stand). If you do choose to use MetroTime in this way we recommend pinning the application to the start screen for quick and easy access.

Using an expensive smartphone as a simple desktop clock might be a little over the top, but when it looks this good, perhaps that doesn't matter!
