On opening the app you'll see a summary of your current reservations, with pick-up and return information. You can add existing reservation by tapping the plus button on the bottom toolbar and entering a reservation number and surname.
Tapping on the "reserve of modify a reseveration" button open the Hertz mobile site in a web control component (i.e. inside the app). This approach does work, but it's not as slick as a full native app implementation and takes away from overall app user experience consistency. In fairness, the Hertz mobile website is well designed and it's a simple process to step through the stages to make a new reservation.
Also included in the app are two helpful tools - "where is my car?" and "nearest gas station" (US coverage only). The first lets you keep a record of where you've parked your car by dropping a push pin onto a map and, optionally, adding information about the location name and address. The second shows a list of the nearest gas (petrol) stations, and links into Bing Maps for directions from your current location.
Hertz Rental Car is a relatively simple app, but it does get the job done. Ultimately it's most useful for keeping reservation information at your fingertips and cutting down on the amount of paperwork you have to carry with you when travelling. If you're a regular Hertz customer it'll a welcome addition to your app collection.
