Windows Phone 8 nominated for 'Design of the Year'

Windows Phone 8 has been nominated for the Best Digital Design of the Year, by the UK's Design Museum. All 90 nominations will be exhibited from March 20th, with the overall 'Design of the Year' award announced on April 17th.

From the announcement:

‘The Oscars of the design world' showcases the most innovative and imaginative designs from around the world, over the past year, spanning seven categories: Architecture, Digital, Fashion, Furniture, Graphics, Transport and Product.

The nomination for the mobile OS reads as follows:

Windows Phone 8 – Designed by Microsoft Windows Phone 8 is the second generation of phones from Microsoft and integrates mobile use with excellent Microsoft office functionality.

Other nominations in the digital category include the Lytro light field camera, the Raspberry Pi Computer, the Gov.UK website, and the cross platform mobile app Zombies, Run! (which is available on Windows Phone, but will not recieve further updates).
