Nokia announces Wireless Car Charger accessory

Published by at

Nokia has added a car mount accessory to it's wireless charging accessory portfolio. The Nokia Wireless Car Charger is similar to the existing Nokia Universal Car Holder (CR-123), but adds a Qi charging coil, allowing compatible Nokia devices (Lumia 920, 820 and variants with wireless charging shell, 720 with wireless charging case) to charge wirelessly while in the accessory.

Phones can be positioned in the accessory vertically or horizontally and held in place using the three movable arms. The carrier is held in place, either on a window, or on the dashboard, using the suction based mount portion of the accessory.

In vehicle wireless charging makes a lot sense, especially as turn-by-turn GPS navigation can be a significant drain on even a high capacity battery. Just as the desktop wireless charging accessories make it more likely that you'll have a fully charged battery when you leave your desk, the Wireless Car Charger makes it is more likely you'll have a fully charged battery when you get out the car.
