What do Gameloft have in store? Let's head over to the press release:
Gameloft and Microsoft will showcase "Asphalt 8: Airborne," the hotly anticipated sequel to Gameloft’s legendary arcade racing series, on Windows 8 devices at Gamescom in Cologne, Germany, Aug. 21-25. Beyond "Asphalt 8: Airborne" and "Dungeon Hunter 4," gamers will also see the release of "Despicable Me: Minion Rush," "Total Conquest," "Six Guns" and "UNO[TM] & Friends" by the end of 2013, followed by an impressive lineup of the latest Gameloft titles in 2014.
It's worth noting that the news is not comprehensive; only a handful of titles are confirmed by name, with the majority of titles simply coming from 'Gameloft's AAA-quality games'; and fifteen titles to appear on WP8 and W8 does not guarantee each platform will receive the full slate of fifteen games. Presumably these will all be released with Xbox Live branding as well.
Nevertheless, this is great news for gamers. The continued support of the large game houses such as Gameloft is important to the Windows Phone platform, and while I would like to see a faster release schedule so titles such as Minion Rush are available on Windows Phone as close to the release dates on iOS and Android as possible.
We'll keep you up to date with news on the titles, release dates, and of course five the titles the full review treatment when they arrive on our handsets.
