Cisco adds 2-way video to its Windows Phone WebEX Meeting app

Published by at

Cisco has released an updated version of its Windows Phone 8 app for its WebEx Meeting service. The new version, 2.0, adds support for "2-way video with active-speaker switching", bringing the Windows Phone client in line with versions for iOS and Android and marking out WebEx as the most sophisticated virtual conferencing solution for Windows Phone.

The Windows Phone 8 app lets you join a WebEx meeting via an email invite, meeting number, WebEx URL, or via the My Meetings List (meetings scheduled in advanced and to which you have been invited). Key features includes the ability to view attendees, take part in private and group chats, and view shared content with annotations. The new two way video feature is available on the content page of the pivot view that is active when you are participating in a meeting.

The app will also let you act as a host for a meeting, allowing to schedule, delete, and manage meeting set up. Once the meeting is underway you can expel unwanted attendees and pass presenter/host capabilities to other parties present in the meeting.
