Windows 10 Mobile may be far from the front line of Microsoft's 2019 mobile plans, but underneath the hood the foundations are receiving kernel and security fixes. There's a new update today (5pm, GMT) for all phones currently running the 1709 branch ('Fall Creators Update'), so go grab it now. Similarly, there's an update out for all phones running the 1703 branch ('Creators Update'), though this is now close to its support 'end'.

Just a quick note to say, that at some point in the last few months, I think Microsoft finally fixed its issues with backed-up non-Lumia-shot photos, some details and links below. Sorry if this sounds nebulous, but all is working now, and it certainly wasn't in the middle of 2018. Yay!

So... it's the end of 2018 and AAWP is still around. And you're wondering what our plans are for next year, in the context of one OS which is now officially not supported anymore (Windows Phone) and one which is entering its last year (Windows 10 Mobile)? Some thoughts below, but not until we have wished you all a great Christmas and a Happy New Year!

As with the Alcatel IDOL 4 Pro (now sorted out), official provisioning for the Wileyfox Pro for the Fall Creators Update (Windows 10 Mobile branch 1709) had been delayed, probably for similar reasons*. Happily, the provisioning database has now been patched, to allow owners of the new Wileyfox Pro to update over the air to FCU and thus enjoy the full support period promised by Wileyfox to businesses.
People think of Windows 10 Mobile being dead. Not quite. Not yet. We're still looking at (at least) a year of support in terms of monthly patches and fixes for Windows 10 Mobile 'Fall Creators Update'. And build 15254.401 (from .369) is fresh out today, so go grab it for all phones currently on the 'Fall Creators Update'. Meanwhile the Creators Update branch gets its regular patches and the Anniversary Update gets a first 'extension' patch.
It's no secret in the Windows 10 world that Maps has its share of issues - one of which is horribly outdated map data in some countries and one of which is that the online 'quick match' search results aren't (ironically) matched up to the format of place names in the offline maps, resulting in 'We can't find' errors on the very thing you just accepted. Happily, this is now sorted out, as of a server-side fix applied a few hours ago.
