Nokia announces the affordable Lumia 525, 1GB RAM opens up more apps

At a low key virtual event in Singapore, Nokia just took the wraps off the new "accessibly-priced" Lumia 525, a variant of the successful Lumia 520. Powered, out of the box, by the latest Nokia Lumia Black version of Windows Phone 8, the Lumia 525 has a 4" screen and 1GB of RAM, along with the usual Nokia imaging apps, maps and navigation from HERE, and free music streaming from Nokia MixRadio.

Nokia launches Windows RT 8.1 tablet with the Lumia 2520

Although not Windows Phone as such, at its Nokia World event, which is being held in Abu Dhabi, Nokia announced its first Windows RT 8.1 tablet product, the Lumia 2520. Nokia has bought the design language from its Lumia phones to the 10 inch tablet product segement, and also includes other signature experiences, such as Carl Zeiss camera optics, strong LTE connectivity, and a best-in-class screen. Software customisations include HERE Maps, Nokia Storyteller, Nokia Music, and Nokia Video Director.

Nokia unveils Lumia 1520 with 6 inch screen and 20MP PureView camera

Nokia today announced the Lumia 1520, a high-end Windows Phone 8 smartphone with a "phablet" form factor. The 1080p (1080 x 1920) IPS LCD screen, the first full HD screen on a Windows Phone handset, is the largest on a Lumia phone to date. Other key specifications include 32GB of internal memory (plus microSD), a quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor running at 2.2GHz, 2GB RAM, 3400mAh integrated battery and integrated Qi wireless charging, and a 20 megapixel oversampling camera with LED flash.

Nokia brings a 6 inch screen to the mid range with the Lumia 1320

Today at Nokia World, Nokia announced the Lumia 1320, a mid-range 6 inch screen smartphone running Windows Phone 8. Following a similar design choice as the Lumia 625, the Lumia 1320 couples Nokia's new camera app with a 5 megapixel camera, and a 6 inch LCD IPS 720p screen to a lower price point of $339 SIM free. It also sports 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage, and micro SD card support up to 64GB. The Lumia 1320 is expected to launch in China and Vietnam early in Q1 2014, with other Asian, Indian, and European markets to follow.

Nokia unveils Lumia 625 with 4.7 inch screen and LTE connectivity

Nokia today announced the Lumia 625, a mid range Windows Phone 8 smartphone, with a 4.7 inch screen and LTE (4G) connectivity. The WVGA (800 x 480) IPS LCD screen is the largest on a Lumia phone to date. Other key specifications include 8GB of internal memory, microSD card support, a dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor running at 1.2GHz, 512MB RAM, 2000mAh integrated battery, and a 5 megapixel camera with LED flash.

Zoom reinvented: Nokia launches the Lumia 1020

At Nokia's "zoom reinvented" event in New York, Stephen Elop, Nokia's CEO, announced the Nokia Lumia 1020, bringing the best of all the company's PureView camera technology into the one modern Windows Phone device. Nokia's new imaging flagship delivers a 1/1.5" (redesigned) 41MP BSI sensor with mechanical shutter, Optiical Image Stabilisation (OIS), Xenon flash (with new flat capacitor tech) and Rich Recording stereo audio capture.

Other notable feature points include a custom Nokia Pro Camera app that gives greater control over camera capture settings, with 'dual capture', plus an optional camera grip accessory (PD-95G) that gives a tripod mounting point and extra battery capacity, 32GB of internal storage, a 4.5" PureMotion HD+ AMOLED display, and a polycarbonate unibody design.

US operator Sprint announces HTC 8XT and Samsung ATIV S Neo

US operator Sprint has announced the summer launch of two new exclusive Windows Phone 8 devices, the HTC 8XT and the Samsung ATIV S Neo, with on-contract price points of $99 and $149 respectively. Both smartphones will operate on Sprint's LTE network and will be bundled with unlimited data, text, and messaging contracts. With this announcement Windows Phone 8 devices will now be available on all four of the major US mobile networks, solidifying Windows Phone's position as the third mobile ecosystem.

Nokia Lumia 925 launches: lighter, slimmer, metal frame

At a dedicated launch event in London, Jo Harlow, SVP smartphones, and Stefan Pannenbecker (from Nokia Design), announced the metal-framed Lumia 925, as you'll see from our 'live' story today, as part of a 'summer of announcements'. This is the company's new Windows Phone flagship for the world, not to be confused with the all plastic - but Xenon-equipped - Lumia 928 for Verizon in the USA. Materials aside, the 925 also has the world's first six-element smartphone camera and has light sensitivity up to ISO 3200. More details of the Lumia 925 below, along with original hands-on photos later today, hopefully.

Nokia announces entry level Asha 501 "smartphone"

At an event in New Delhi, Nokia unveiled the Asha 501, the first of its next generation of Asha smartphones, powered by the new Nokia Asha platform. Priced at £63 ($99 / €75) before taxes and subsidies, the device is intended to provide a low cost smartphone option in Nokia's product portfolio, positioned between the Lumia range of Windows Phone devices and the Series 40 range of feature phone devices.
